1972 Chevrolet K-10 Pickup
Starting in the model year 1967 General Motors introduced a wholenew design of their truck line. This new line came with thenickname "Action Line". This new C/K line of trucks had addedmodern conveniences to a truck that had previously been built forwork purposes. These new conveniences included coil spring rearsuspension, with leaf spring suspension still available if youpreferred. All of the two-wheel drive trucks came with independentfront suspensions.
For consignment, a nice and straight, rust free, K-10 Pickup. This4x4 is bathed in interesting and beautiful dark green paint anduses black accenting along with shiny chrome for its look. A 350ciV8 motor is now in, and for the interior, wonderfully redone. Ohand don't forget the oak lined bed looking like new, and it's openfor the world to see!
Exterior
Probably one of the most popular of all the GM trucks, this 2ndgeneration last year 1972 has the look that is very desirable. Anice shiny egg crate grille, single round headlights on either sidewithin a square chrome bezel, and wide surround just above thebumper and all is in very good condition. This leads the way forthe straight steel with well minded gaps and all bathed in darkgreen metallic paint. Badging, marker lighting, handles and mirrorshave been kept in chrome and adds a nice peppering of accenting tothe turquoise background. On the back of the cab is a long slidinglightly tinted glass window and this gazes out upon the fullyrestored oak lined bed and polished diamond plate tool box.Beautiful dark green metallic also bathes this inside, andtailgate, and there does not appear to be a mark on it. Chromeplated 6 spoke rims in 16-inch format are wrapped in deeply treadedLT285/75R16 radials. Overall an excellent presentation on an iconicmust have model K-10.
Interior
Utility meets comfort, and a smattering of bling also is noted forthis interior. The door panels, in black, have an embossed Sheridantooled look on these panels, along with black molded plastic forthe armrests, and the lower panel is all dark green steel. Movingto the bench, it's beautiful and a nice compliment to the exterior,utilizing black vinyl which has been tucked and rolled for theinserts. The surrounding bolsters are black vinyl, and all are inexcellent condition, as are the Sheridan embossings within theseats. In front of the 2 spoke steering wheel is the iconic dashfor GM in this generation in the form of a trio of round gaugeswithin a black dash front. More circular instruments in smallerformat run along the bottom of the dash front. Chromed eyeballvents are seen on each corner. Mounted neatly in dash central is anaftermarket sound system with AM/FM/Cassette capabilities. Thistruck is equipped with Classic Auto Air A/C, and has a black paddeddash top. Black textured matting is like new and covering thefloors, and above is a black tucked and rolled vinyl headliner.
Drivetrain
Under the hood, and within a gaggle of wiring and hoses is stuffeda 350ci engine. This has an aluminum intake and a Holley 4-barrelcarburetor feeding things, and on back a TH350 3-speed automatic.Rear wheel power is distributed by a 12-bolt rear and with a pullof the transfer case handle the Dana 44 front axle can be engaged.Headers are now on and melt into a Flowmaster exhaust.
Undercarriage
All clean underneath with light surface rust seen only on the leafsprings. All else is nice and black and structurally sound. Eventhe bed liner boards underneath look great! Leaf springs allaround, and power disc brakes for the front, and power drums forthe back.
Drive-Ability
All was well with a quick fire up and the test track was no matchfor this restored C-10. All was fine with acceleration, panicstopping, and even handling was good with all functions operatingas designed.
A very sedate and eye-catching color and really nicely done on thisiconic must have generation and year C-10. Beautifully done, andnow all you have to do is turn the key and off to work or play.Life does not get any better in this bowtie world.
