Physiotherapy - ACT Physiotherapy & Health Services (2024)

The physiotherapist does a comprehensive assessment that helps make a treatment plan which aims at achieving the patient's goal of resolving symptoms like pain, weakness, coordination, and dysfunction. After the condition is alleviated, the patient is then given strategies to improve their overall health and prevent the recurrence of the problem.

What we do at Act Physiotherapy and Health Services

At Act Physiotherapy and Heath Services, we start with an initial assessment which involves taking your complete history and doing a physical examination. After the examination and evaluation process is completed, your firm diagnosis is established, the physiotherapist will help you with the customized treatment plan. Every patient has a unique condition for which we will design a unique treatment plan to address the issue which will help eliminate your symptoms and will prevent a recurrence.

Our treatment plan includes one on one hands-on treatment by our registered physiotherapist which involves advanced techniques and therapeutic modalities like shockwave therapy, laser therapy, decompression, ultrasound, and a specific exercise program. Your progress will be continuously evaluated and changes will be made to achieve the best results. We evaluate your progress continuously and will fine-tune your treatment to achieve the best results.

What is Shockwave Therapy?

Shockwave Therapy is one of the advanced treatment methods that we offer to our clients at ACT Physiotherapy and Health Services.
Radial Shockwave stimulates the healing process by increasing the blood flow to affected areas, which accelerates healing and often results in quicker relief from pain. It also helps heal chronic inflammation, stimulates collagen, which connects and supports tissue, and also breaks up calcium deposits.

What is Laser Therapy?
Laser Therapy is non-invasive, painless, and safe for treating various types of chronic pain and acute injuries. It is especially helpful to treat muscle and joint pain, arthritis, as well as chronic neck and back pain.

In Laser therapy, Photons enter the tissue and interact with the cytochrome complex that is within the mitochondria. This interaction triggers an increase in cellular metabolism and a decrease in both pain and inflammation

Oxygen supply increases in the treated area which in turn increases blood flow and circulation into the affected areas. The most significant benefit of Laser Therapy is that it works to stimulate the natural process that occurs inside the cells, which eliminates pain and produces better recovery times.
Laser light that has differing duration and wavelengths penetrates the soft tissue in order to directly deliver energy to the injured tissue cells. This is a very beneficial effect for injured bone, cartilage, nerves, tendons, ligaments, muscle, and skin.

What is Decompression Therapy?
Spinal decompression therapy, also known as non-surgical spinal decompression, is a practice that utilizes spinal decompression tables to relieve pain by creating a scenario in which bulging or herniated disc tissue is able to move back into place and heal, alleviating the pain this condition causes.

Nonsurgical spinal decompression is a type of motorized traction that may help relieve back pain and neck pain. Spinal decompression works by gently stretching the spine. That changes the force and position of the spine. This change takes the pressure off the spinal disks, which are gel-like cushions between the bones in your spine, by creating negative pressure in the disc. As a result, bulging or herniated disks may retract, taking pressure off nerves and other structures in your spine. This, in turn, helps promote the movement of water, oxygen, and nutrient-rich fluids into the disks so they can heal.

Doctors have used nonsurgical spinal decompression in an attempt to treat:

  • Back or neck pain or sciatica, which is pain, weakness, or tingling that extends down the leg or hand
  • Bulging or herniated disks or degenerative disk disease
  • Worn spinal joints (called posterior facet syndrome, spinal stenosis)
  • Injured or diseased spinal nerve roots.

Is Physiotherapy Painful?

People mistakenly believe that physiotherapy might cause pain, physiotherapy does not hurt although initially the stretches and exercises may cause slight discomfort; this is primarily due to the fact that the body is not used to such movement; as the body adjusts and adapts it will be less painful. The aim of physiotherapy is to relieve pain and not to cause it. Our physiotherapists are well trained to adjust to your tolerance level and make you feel comfortable.
