What makes the Starbucks Iced Lavender Cream Oatmilk Matcha so good?

Starbucks may be known for its coffee, but the chain has some pretty amazing tea-based beverages like the new Iced Lavender Cream Oatmilk Matcha on its menu as well. This iced latte is a refreshing combination of earthy matcha tea, slightly nutty oatmilk, and light agave syrup with a thick and sweet layer of creamy foam with the floral notes of lavender on top.

Not only is this lavender matcha drink pretty to look at with its beautiful color, but the taste is addictive. The floral flavors are perfect for spring and summer. Stop paying so much for your daily fix at Starbucks and make this iced lavender oatmilk latte in the comfort of your own home for a fraction of the price.

Why you’ll love this recipe

Easy to prepare, tasty to drink, and darn good-looking, Starbucks Iced Lavender Cream Oatmilk Matcha is an excellent alternative to espresso-based iced lattes you need a machine to make. With this recipe, there’s no need to go to the coffee shop and you can make this iced lavender latte anytime you have a craving.

Although not vegan, the drink contains less lactose than regular lattes, making it a good option for those who want to drink fewer dairy products. With less caffeine than coffee, you can savor the taste any time of day.

Ingredients you need

For the Matcha Oatmilk Tea, you’ll need:

  • Oatmilk
  • Light agave nectar
  • Matcha green tea powder

Inexpensive green tea powder is perfect for this recipe. Don’t use high-quality tea here.

Use extra creamy oat milk if you can find it at your grocery store.

For the homemade Lavender Cold Foam, you’ll need:

  • Full-fat whipping cream
  • Whole milk
  • Lavender syrup
  • Purple food coloring (optional)

Use a lavender flavor syrup that is formulated for coffee drinks like the ones from Monin or Torani.

The exact measurements for the ingredients are in the printable recipe card below.

Ingredient substitutions

You can customize this homemade iced lavender oat milk latte to fit your taste and dietary preferences. Here are some ideas:

  • Sweetener – substitute agave with vanilla syrup, honey, or simple syrup. You can adjust the sweetness by adding or using less sweetener.
  • Dairy – to make it dairy-free, substitute the heavy cream and cow’s milk with plant-based whipping cream and milk.
  • Oat Milk – use almond milk, coconut milk, soy milk, cow’s milk, or your preferred milk.

How to make Starbucks Iced Lavender Cream Oatmilk Matcha

  1. Pour the heavy cream, whole milk, lavender syrup, and a few drops of purple food coloring (if using) into a mixing bowl or a tall glass.

What to serve it with

The unique taste of this tea latte means you want to pair it with mild food. Here are a few suggestions:

  • Lemon Poppy Seed Muffins. The hint of lemon in these glazed Lemon Poppy Seed Muffins works well with the lavender in the latte, while the texture of the tiny poppy seeds makes it fun to eat.
  • Scones. Plain or vanilla scones are an excellent pairing. Please stay away from scones containing fruits or chocolate chips, as they can clash with the flavor of the drink.
  • Almond biscotti. Lightly flavored and with a good crunch, almond biscotti are a great nibble to have on the side.

How to store the leftovers

Keep the Matca Oatmilk Tea and the Lavender Cold Foam in separate airtight containers in the fridge. A mason jar is a great choice for an airtight container. The foam will lose its bubbles over time, so you must froth it again before using it. Try to use up the leftovers within a day or two.
